The 8 Days Lemosho Route is widely regarded as the most beautiful and successful way to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
Starting on the remote western side of the mountain, this route offers breathtaking scenery, low traffic in the early days, and excellent acclimatization—greatly increasing summit success rates. The journey crosses diverse landscapes, from lush rainforest and moorlands to alpine desert and icy summit glaciers, culminating at Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa.
After registration at Londorossi Gate, you drive to the trailhead and begin your trek through dense rainforest. The trail is rich in wildlife and birdlife, with towering trees and moss-covered paths.
You leave the forest behind and enter the heath and moorland zone. The terrain opens up with wide views of the Shira Plateau and distant peaks.
A gentle walk across the Shira Plateau, offering spectacular views of Mount Meru and Kibo Peak. This shorter day helps with acclimatization.
This is a key acclimatization day. You hike up to Lava Tower (4,600m) before descending into the scenic Barranco Valley.
After climbing the famous Barranco Wall, the trail continues with ups and downs toward Karanga Valley, improving acclimatization and endurance.
A steady climb leads you to Barafu Camp, the final base before the summit attempt. The rest of the day is for rest, preparation, and early dinner.
You begin the summit push just after midnight. Reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise is a truly unforgettable moment. After photos and celebration, you descend to Mweka Camp.
A final descent through lush rainforest brings you to Mweka Gate, where you receive your summit certificates before transfer back to your hotel.
